I've just finished another annual youth week. As always, it was inspirational, affirming, joyous, exhausting, busy, creative, and an overall delight. This year was particularly tiring as I had an exam the week before, so I was operating at a significant sleep deficit before I even started. Somehow though, no matter how tired I get, the energy of the delegates carries me through. Can't wait for next year!
I've was in Birmingham recently to be trained as a Youth Mental Health First Aider at Mind Birmingham, along with another leader from the annual youth week. I had already completed the adult MHFA course through work, but the youth course was hugely valuable, and went in to more specifics about youth related issues.
The MHFA courses are extremely useful to help understand mental health, and learn how to better support anyone who may be in crisis, or concerned about their mental health. More information can be found on their website, here.
